Erin C (she/her) is a Japanese-Canadian artist based in Vancouver, BC.
A lifelong lover of the silly, tender, and nonsensical, I find myself drawn to the sweetness woven into everyday life: things often overlooked, but rich with depth. My work plays in the space where the lighthearted meets the uncomfortable, where softness and strangeness coexist. A towel draped over your favourite chair to dry, an ant hauling food far bigger than itself - small, seemingly insignificant moments are where I like to linger. Through art, I hope to capture these fleeting pockets of life: the ones that exist everywhere and nowhere at once, and are often difficult to explain with words.
I’m deeply grateful to be working on the lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, who, for millennia, have stewarded and nurtured this land that continues to feed and inspire me.
I often share my work and updates on Instagram at @hazybeestudio!
